Swiss Roo+s

I found an amazing local restaurant that serves authentic Swiss Cuisine called "Chef Hans" located in Winter Park, FL. On the way there, I had a very interesting conversation with my Grandma Judy about our Swiss roots. She said our family was one of five families that founded Gresso (we are also from Zurich and Chur)... she said much more than I can write here. I was inspired to call because I wanted an outfit for Enso that reflected his Swiss heritage (yes for this year's Christmas card). I wanted to know if we had family that wouldn't mind buying him an authentic Lederhosen. Last year he wore a traditional Bolivian parka (in addition to the baby Mozart outfit). Anyway I found Lederhosen on eBay and also found several of the sites and treasures shown here.

The Hurricane Ring...

This hurricane ring/pendant will be featured in the Etsy coop ad in the November 2008 Issue of Craft Magazine.

I am a native Floridian and I actually carved this ring while watching the weatherman map one of our three hurricanes in 2004 - Charley, Frances or Ivan. I can remember sitting with a piece of wax and a file and numbly playing with it in my fingers, when I looked down I had created the same hurricane symbol I was watching on TV!

I love this ring (you can also wear it as a pendant) not only because it is sleek, comfortable and modern but because it makes me pause and count my blessings. Thank you to everyone who has shared what this symbol means to them. I have been so touched by your personal stories. Please stay safe during Gustav, Hanna, Ike etc. etc. etc....
